20th Anniversary Women’s Film Festival March 9-18, Brattleboro A benefit for the Women’s Freedom Center womensfilmfestival.org Celebrated during Women’s History Month, the Women’s Film Festival is the longest-running women’s film festival in New England and one of the oldest in the world devoted to films by and about women. The Festival will screen 26 entertaining and illuminating films that raise awareness of the struggles, accomplishments and creativity of women around the corner and around the globe. “This year’s roster includes more dramatic selections,” says Merry Elder, who heads the film selection committee.
A festival reception and previews of the films will take place during Brattleboro’s monthly Gallery Walk Friday, March 2 from 5:30 to 8p in the Hooker Dunham lobby at 139 Main Street in Brattleboro. The festival is fully volunteer run. One hundred percent of thr proceeds benefit the Women’s Freedom Center (formerly Women’s Crisis Center), a non-profit organization that helps women and children from southern Vermont and surrounding areas protect themselves against domestic violence.
